Birla College of Science and Education, now known as Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is one of the good colleges in Kolkata. The campus is not big enough, but the faculty is quite good. It is a semi private college that provides courses relating to Science and Commerce. The session for commerce is in the morning while that for science is in the day. The college also provides B.Ed. course. The college is NAAC accredited. Annual sports are organized every year at the Calcutta University ground beside Red Road. Yearly social service program is organized under the NSS which is done for improving the local slums.
